Back on December 18, 2007 I wrote about FFXIclopedia surpassing the 20,000 article count. Today we eclipsed 25,000.[1] Pretty cool to have added another 5,000 articles in about 9 months. But I'll echo what I said there... article count can be misleading. Sure a wiki with 5 articles is in bad shape, but a wiki with 25,000 articles each containing useless information is likewise not going to help the community much. Perhaps a better metric is one given at wikistats about percentage of articles over .5Kb and over 2Kb. Currently FFXIclopedia comes in at 82% and 17%, respectively.[2] I like these stats - they show we have real content buried in the wiki.
Since the December post we've also expanded into the social networking aspects Wikia has to offer. These have helped expand the community, which in turn expands editors, which expands edits, which expands content.
The hard part now is tweaking the content we have - such as applying more templates to make coding easier or easier to change en mass or introducing advanced css changes to make certain pages look nicer. But even after 3 ½ years everything is growing which is great - whether it be the visuals, the features, the article size... and yes... even the article count.
